The Software License

Single PCs receive their license from a copy protection device (Dongle) or a hard-protect plug-in card (PAL). PALs and dongles store the licensed serial number for one Chromeleon station.

For large installations, a Chromeleon License Server is provided for license management, saving the administrator the time-consuming task of making the necessary hardware available on all Client PCs and entering the corresponding key codes.

Each user of a dongle- or PAL-protected station must enter a 12-, 24-, 36-, or 48-digit Key Code during the Chromeleon installation. The key code includes all functions and Chromeleon licenses that are available for a specific user. (For more information about the licenses, refer to Chromatography Components: Hardware and Software  Chromeleon Licenses in the User Help section.) A key code matches exactly one serial number.

 Tip:

It is not possible to operate several Chromeleon stations with the same key code, or to expand the scope of functions on a different station. In order to operate Chromeleon for more than the one hour allowed in Evaluation Mode, the key code you enter must match the dongle or the PAL plug-in card.

If you upgrade your Chromeleon software by acquiring the corresponding license(s), you receive a new key code. To make the extended functionality available, enter the new code.
